HOW IS ANTHROPOLOGY AS AN OPTIONAL SUBJECT?
- Limited syllabus ( though need to be covered extensively)
- Static syllabus ( so no tension for questions based on current affairs)
- Objectivity- mostly factual questions
- Scoring - for past some years anthropology proved very scoring( some people scored 350) This year topper is 362, last year 350.
- Good amount of material available- in market good material available easily for anthropology
- Less Time to complete - as compared to other optional.
LIMITATIONS OF ANTHROPOLOGY
- Material is scattered- no single source can give entire coverage of the syllabus. So either you have to make your own notes or make addition to other people notes.
- Very less number of coaching centres available- across country very less coaching available. I found L2A good. Sir there has good knowledge of the subject. He teaches exam oriented. I got his help everytime in my preparation.
SOME MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ANTHROPOLOGY
- Anthropology needs knowledge of biology- I am Mechanical engineer and I could score 325 in my first attempt. There are many who scored very good score without any biology background. So remove this from your mind. But someone with that background will have added advantage.
- Anthropology can be covered in a month period - I will say to score above 300 it needs meticulous preparation. Reading, notes making, test series consumes more time. So definitely can't he covered in one or 2 months.
